On select dates in April and May, Target will hold a car seat trade-in event, where parents can send old car seats to be recycled and get a deal on new ones. Target's popular car seat trade-in event returns on Earth Day. From April 22 through May 4, Target stores will accept and recycle car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats, the retailer announced in a statement. According to Target's website, you can trade in any type of car seat during the event, including models that are expired or have been damaged. Material from your old car seat will be recycled to make new metal and plastic products, making this an eco-friendly way to get rid of seats that are no longer safe to use. Target first introduced its car seat trade-in program in April 2016. Since then, more than 306,000 car seats have been recycled (which adds up to over 4.6 million pounds of recycled materials). From Sunday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 22, the retailer will once again host this popular event at participating locations nationwide (excluding small-format stores) in honor of Baby Safety Month.
